About Us

Jason and Marion

Doing what we should have done.

About

After living in the same house for 26.5 years on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Jason, and Marion decided to make the tree change they always wanted. The northern Bundaberg region and lower Gladstone region held a special place in their hearts. They almost moved to the Rules beach area back in 1995 but Marion was studying and wanted to remain on the Gold Coast for a while. Over the years, they worked hard and had a beautiful baby girl, who is now a lovely young woman.
Jason took care of his mother for eleven years, till her passing at the beginning of 2020. During that time he also discovered his health problems had a name, Fybromyalgia. Just knowing what he was experiencing actually had a name was life-changing for Jason. He read extensively and found through improving his diet he could get a lot of relief from his pain. We will be talking more about that on another page to come.
Now, they are looking forward to this new journey, discovering their inner farmer and simply enjoying the beautiful forest and wildlife that surrounds them.
They hope you enjoy watching them share their new life experiences and have a few laughs along the way.

FARMING

Honey bees

We are big consumers of honey and looking forward to enjoying the precious liquid for years to come. Also to nurture one of the most important animals in the food chain. Hopefully one day we will have an abundance to share.

ANIMALS

We are doing this for ourselves but also looking forward to sharing our excess crops with others, either at markets to sell or just to donate to homeless shelters. We now have chickens, mainly for eggs, maybe for eating. Not up to the thought yet. We shall see how that goes.

Goats are becoming Jason’s passion. Marion has been milking and turning that into cheese and soaps etc… The soaps are available through our Bee Goatee page, square shop, markets etc… The cheese is just for fun and experimenting. Hopefully one day we can turn a shed into a little cheese making facility! Until then, well, it does take a few months for harder cheeses like cheddar to mature. The Chevre, a soft cheese, has been quite yummy and by the time all the trial and error has been done, we will have a product to be proud of.
